Usi Day Festival 2019
Recently the Usi community, a town in a Ekiti State Nigeria headed by Olusi Oba(King) Akande Adebayo the orokoyo 111,holds the annual Usi Day festival. This festival usually holds every 1st Saturday of August where indigenes of the community re- union to celebrate the end of the year in style. A whole week usually slated for competitions like Ayo opon,Scrabble, football match, quiz competition etc. and on Friday for Marathon race then Friday night is for Miss Usi Day beauty pageant.
This year Usi-Day witnessed another dimension because of the new club that hosted it, club de patriot of Usi and the commissioner of environment of Ekiti state Mr Gbenga Agbeyo, Director of Art and culture of Ekiti state Mr Wale-Ojo Lanre who are from the town added more spice to the event.
On Friday 2nd of August at about 10:00pm was set for miss Usi beauty pageant, where about 7 beautiful girls contested for the competition. The night was filled with different activities, to mention few, dancing competition, Magician display,interlude and d rest.
On Saturday the deal date 3rd of August 2019 was witnessed by the indigenes of the community and the top notch in the state. The event was chaired by Yemi Farounbi formal presidential aspirant,whose mother hailed from the town and the governor of the state Kayode Fayemi was represented by one of his cabinet.
The Saturday event was filled with different activities part of which is family parade,to mention few of the family, Imila, Odofin, Inisa,Ejemu,Owa,Odoba family etc prestigious awards was also presented to some outstanding indigenes of the community.
The president of Egbe omo Usi Chief Debo Ayorinde later closed the arena by thanking club de patriot and the invited guests for there contributions to the success of the event.
